Victoria is as one once again, as the ring of steel came down this week, bringing Victorians together again for what will be a fantastic Summer of sailing.
Restrictions for all sailors 18 and under have lifted now and we are free to race and train again as a group. RGYC has kicked off with their Opening Day and SYC will celebrate their Opening on December 5th.
The first regatta on our calendar for the 2020-21 season will be the Kingston Sprints at SYC on December 12 and 13. There will be 12 races, 6 per day, with a target race time of 15 – 20 minutes.
Due to COVID safe practices entries will be limited to 100 boats, with each class potentially capped at 20 entries, but i’m sure there will be a space on the start line for all cadets who want to join the action.
In some great news for cadet sailors and families, Sixth Fleet registration required for the States and Nationals later this season, has been reduced to $165 per boat. This will cover entry fee for the State Titles in Metung in March and assist with some of the coaching costs at the Nationals in April.
It would be wise to start looking at accomodation options in Metung on the March long weekend, as there are two other regattas being held in Metung that weekend and i’m sure accomodation will be snapped up quickly.
Stay tuned for more news about upcoming events.
